You’ve sold your film, but your distributor just handed you a 46-page list of deliverables.  Now what?  Delivery is the crucial, final step needed to ready a film for distribution and get paid.  And yet it is often an afterthought in production budgets and workflows. Stacey Smith of Reel Deal Advisory Services will review contractual delivery terminology and discuss the process of negotiating the delivery schedule with the distributor.  She will also discuss the importance of legal/document delivery specifically and will provide tips for avoiding common pitfalls in legal delivery.

Stacey Smith is an experienced business affairs executive and producer who brings a unique perspective to her work in independent film. She started her career on Wall Street, where she was involved in film and cable television financings, which led to her longtime association with internationally renowned and fiercely independent filmmaker Jim Jarmusch. Over the next 16 years, she played a key role in the financing, sales, production and distribution for all of his films.  Her company Reel Deal Advisory Services advises producers and investors on all business aspects of new independent film and TV projects and helps them manage and maximize revenues on previously produced projects. In recent years, Stacey has developed a specialty in legal delivery services, and has delivered films on behalf of producers to almost all of the major indies, streamers and studios, as well as providing legal delivery review services for major distributors.  She has also recently returned to producing, and is working on several documentary projects..
