Indie Spirit Awards Honors WIP Members

On Saturday, the Independent Spirit Awards by Film Independent will broadcast live on IFC as well as other online platforms. If you are like me, you'll fill out your ballot, break out the popcorn and a warm blanket, and settle in to celebrate this year in independent film.

WIP-ers have even more reason to tune in. Several of our members are up for awards this year. Jennifer Fox's "The Tale" is nominated for Best First Feature, Best First Screenplay, and Best Editing. "Madeline's Madeline," which was produced by Krista Parris, Elizabeth Rao and co-produced by Amenya Makuku, is up for Best Female Lead, and Best Cinematography.

Gabrielle Nadig was nominated for the Piaget Producers Award, a cash grant to support producers whose tenacity and vision deliver high quality independent films, despite limited resources. The award was presented at a brunch on January 5 to Shrihari Sathe. We congratulate Gabrielle on the nomination and hope the recognition it generated will pay off over and over again.

We wish all of the nominees the best of luck this weekend, and hope they have a wonderful time at the ceremony. If you did not see all of the nominated films, here is a list of which platforms currently host each nominated title.
